Down Time and Real hcg Diet Injections

After returning from my trip, I came down with a nasty flu bug that was circulating our family.  We have 7 young children at home and 3 of those are school age.  After a week I discontinued the diet.  I felt like I didn't have the strength to fight this bug.  I have had a long HCG diet interruption.

Additionally, I had become extremely hungry.  I assume because my drops were homeopathic and not real HCG.  I stayed off the diet during the Christmas holiday.  It took a couple of weeks, but I eventually overcame the sickness.  During this time I researched and came to the conclusion that I wanted the injectable HCG.  After all the goal is to exit this diet at my correct weight and in good health.  And to keep the weight off.

Even though I have eaten like a pig for the last few weeks, my weight has gone up, but not excessively.  I now weigh in at 182.  I received the HCG in the mail, but am waiting on the injection kit.  I'll start with loading days as soon as the kit arrives. (Can't wait!)

I am a little nervous about the injections.  I am sure I'll get used to it.

I need to leave for Palm Springs on the 12th of January.  I will do the diet up until the 13th, and then take a break for the few days ( ie, do a short hcg diet interruption) I will be there, resuming again when we return that Monday.

The real bummer is, I will have to reset goals for the third time.  I set original goals, then because I lost weight so quickly, I changed all my goals to be much more aggressive.  Because of the time off the diet I am back on track with my original goals.  When I start back up on the hcg, I will need to modify those goals again.

Since I don't know when my injection supplies will arrive.  It is hard to set a first goal.  I would like to be below 170, when I leave for Palm Springs.  That date is January 12th.

HCG Interruption

This morning's weight is 176.2!  Wow, how did that happen so fast?  Down 14.8 lbs, in around 13 days.  I just love it when I break the the 10 lb markers.  It sounds better to say, I weigh a hundred seventy-something, than 180-something.  I am looking forward to being in the 160's because I haven't been there in a few years.
Because of the recent trip to California, I researched HCG interruptions. Here is what I found.  If you are going to be traveling and the hcg diet interruption is less than 14 days, stop taking your HCG and stay on the 500 calorie diet for 3 days before you leave.  You can then eat a 800 to 1,000 calorie diet.  The best way to do this is to add back into your diet milk products and eggs, as well as more meats  You will still need to avoid sugars and starches.

Finally Home after eating out on the HCG diet

Finally back home after a grueling road trip home.  I found it difficult to stay on the diet while at the seminar.  I will explain the difficulties shortly.

First of all, I now weigh in at 181.2, for a total of 9.2 lbs lost. I did lose weight on the trip, just not at the rate that I had been losing.

I still think this type of travel is possible and should be easy.  We took chicken with raw cauliflower. The chicken was over cooked which made it very dry.  That combined with the dry cauliflower, made choking down the meal a very unpleasant experience.  Only enough food was taken for lunches.  We assumed that we could easily get a meat and salad while on the road.

We had our tea in the morning, then packed up our lunch and headed to the convention center.  We did not get out each day until well after 5 PM and then had meetings to attend before we could go to dinner.  Dinner was often a group activity in which we did not get to choose the restaurant.

I found it very difficult to swallow down much of the dry lunch.  Most days I ate very little of it.  The result was, that we were WAY too hungry by the time we finally got to dinner.  We felt weak and several times we ended up eating what we shouldn't have.

Still, I lost weight and the diet wasn't derailed.  I arrived home with a weight lose of 2 lbs.  I have been home for almost 24 hours and have lost another full pound!  Woohoo!

What will I do different next time?

I have another trip down to southern California in January.  These are the changes I will make.
  • First of all, I plan on purchasing packaged lunch meats.  This should help keep them fresh and moist.  I will weigh and package them before we leave each morning.
  • I will also take both lunch and dinner with me.  No more starving for the entire day, then loading on calories late at night.  I figure if I  eat my dinner, then if I have a meeting in a restaurant, I will not be so hungry.
  • I will chose vegetables that will not go down dry, like cucumbers and tomatoes instead of cauliflower and broccoli.
I now weigh about ten pounds less than when I started.  I am looking forward to being about twenty pounds lighter at the next trip in early January.  I have another ACN international in June.  My goal is to be at my optimum weight by then.  That weight used to be 129, but I am older and carry less muscle.  I may need to weigh less.  I will let the mirror tell me when my weight is right.  Can't wait!

Eating on the Road

I'm at the ACN conference.  It was a long hard drive to get here.  I lost only half a pound.  I didn't drink enough water, and ate a couple of things that weren't quite right for the diet. I am glad I lost anything.  I think we are better prepared to eat today, because we have chicken done up in advance and baggies with our veggies and fruit.

Traveling and Eating Out on the HCG Diet

I lost another full pound yesterday, still on the homeopathic HCG drops.  That is 7.6 lbs in 5 days!

I'm leaving today for a 5 day business trip to San Diego.  While I travel and when I am eating out in restaurants, here are some things I've thought about so I can stay on my HCG diet:
  • We can cook and take some plain chicken with us. (I like mine boiled with garlic salt and seasonings)
  • I packed lots of tea.
  • I can order things in a restaurant like a small plain 6 oz steak, fish or pork chop and cut it in half.
  • I can then eat half and a plain salad, and take the other half to go.
  • I can eat my fruit as snacks only.
  • I'll need lots of bottled water.
  • While we are driving, I can eat my boiled chicken and raw broccoli
Can we travel and eat out on the HCG diet?
I really think I can.  There will be three of us on the HCG diet.  The challenge is to weigh before we leave, and see who lost the most pounds by the time we get home.  This will be fun!

See ya in sunny California : )

Real HCG diet - pharmaceutical drops vs homeopathic drops

Good morning!  My weigh-in this morning showed another 1.2 lbs lost.  That's a total of 6.6 lbs in 4 days.  I'm thrilled, but to tell the truth, I am really facing a dilemma.

Here's my problem:
I've been doing a lot of research (hours and hours).  So has my daughter who is investigating the HCG diets before she goes on one.  We both have the same concerns involving the differences between a real HCG diet (pharmaceutical grade HCG) and homeopathic HCG.

Apparently, the only way to get HCG is to produce it in the laboratory.
So how do they get homeopathic HCG?  I've read repeatedly, that they add so little real HCG, that it is almost not present, then they can call it homeopathic.

The other ingredients in the homeopathic drops usually appear to be good for you.  You still lose weight, in my opinion, mainly because of the extremely low calorie diet.  It also teaches you to eat healthier and smaller portions.

My drops are homeopathic and came highly reccommended.  I decided to test them using a pregnancy test.  I've read that if the HCG hormone is at a sufficient level, if you drop it directly onto a pregnancy strip, it will turn positive. If you take a pregnancy test it should be negative, unless you are pregnant.  But put the hormone drops directly onto the strip.

This is a picture of my HCG, my test kit, and the results.
My test came up negative for HCG hormones, testing by this method.
The strip shows one red line which is a negative reading.
You can order a pregnancy test kit for your HCG here
Why this bothers me:
My understanding is, the pharmaceutical HCG  does two things for you.
  • First it decreases your hunger.
  • Second, it allows your body to burn fat instead of muscle, when on the extremely restricted, pure HCG diet.
Lastly, using an extremely low calorie diet will do harm to your metabolism if done without the aid of HCG.  Your body will perceive itself as starving.  HCG is know to help fix your metabolism, but doing the diet with homeopathic crops will probably do just the opposite and lower your metabolism.

If homeopathic HCG doesn't contain enough pharmaceutical HCG, then won't your body burn up both fat and muscle?  More specifically, on this low a calorie diet, I am concerned about the effects on the heart muscle.

I want to start a discussion on this topic.

I am considering ordering some of the pharmaceutical drops.  I can deal with the hunger, but I don't want to jeopardize mine or anyone else's health.

HCG diet recipe and picture - Chicken Salad with Strawberry Vinaigrette

Hi, I promised a picture of food, so this is a photo of the lunch I made today adhering to the HCG diet food list.  This was my second attempt at making an HCG diet salad and it turned out great!  My first try at salad was really not good.

A beautiful chicken, strawberry salad with strawberry vinaigrette!

  • I used a couple of cups of spinach salad.
  • I boiled 3.5 oz of chicken tenders, sprinkled with some seasoning salt, and cut them up.
  • I topped it with 4 large strawberries

For the Vinaigrette:  I mashed up
  • one large strawberry
  • one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar
  • a drip of lemon juice
  • sprinkle of salt
 ("Slimming hcg diet," )

    It was beautiful and delicious!

Day 3 HCG diet, phase 2

This morning I am home and finally have access to a scale.  My starting weight was 191, this morning I weighed in at 185.6.  That is over 5 lbs in just two days!!!!  I am really excited about this.  I had written goals on a calender, and already have far surpassed what I thought I would do.  I'm going to have to re-write them all.  Yeah, for HCG!

Yesterday I had many different types of tea.  I have a raspberry hibiscus tea that is awesome.  I'm trying to not have the same flavor twice a day.  This morning I am drinking a Super Green tea, with orange flavor.
For my meals I chose items from my HCG food list.  I ate chicken, boiled and season, with asparagus for lunch, and  a small steak seasoned with Montreal seasoning, 5 strawberries, and half a sliced cucumber for dinner. It was delicious.   I also had an apple for snack, mid morning.  My daughter saw my dinner last night and freaked out about how good it looked.  She suggested that I photograph some of my meals and post them, as incentive to help new dieters understand that the meals can be good.

I am starting to feel a little tired.  I had a mild headache yesterday afternoon and evening.  I feel better this morning.  I am going to look into getting some b-complex vitamins and potassium.  Potassium helps because the rapid weight loss.

First day of Phase Two 500 calorie HCG diet and menu.

I woke up this morning, so excited.  I took my hcg drops under my tongue and then went out and put on my little red teapot.  During the morning I drank a yummy raspberry hibiscus tea, a Goodearth, super green tea and a Bonkers "super skinny" tea.  I ate a small apple around 10 am.

For lunch, first I took more HCG drops, then I weighed out salad greens, around 3 oz.  It was huge.  It took up a whole dinner plate piled high.  I sprinkled it with balsamic vinegar, and had 3.5 oz of cooked shrimp.  The shrimp was good, but I have to admit that I would have enjoyed it more with marinara sauce.  The salad I didn't enjoy much.  It was a lot more lettuce than I would normally eat, and to eat it without dressing was just too bland.
Maybe in the future I will put some strawberries in it and chicken.

I have to eat 5 strawberries and drink some pomegranate flavored green tea for an afternoon snack.  I am planning on having a very small steak and some asparagus for dinner.

I'm not overly hungry.  It's 3 pm and my stomach is just now getting a little growly.  I've been out riding horses since this morning and have gotten plenty of exercise.  I am feeling a little frustrated that I don't have a scale to jump on in the morning.  Oh well, it should be that much more exciting when I get to weigh in on Monday morning.

    Day 2, phase 2 Loading

Day 2 was the day after Thanksgiving,  I  am house sitting so I took a few leftovers for me and my husband.  I think the HCG drops are making me not hungry.  I had a hard time loading.  I didn't really feel like eating.  I finally downed a handful of deviled eggs.  I hope it is enough.
During the loading phase you take the HCG drops, but you eat at much protein fats and anything else you can.  The idea is to load up for the restricted diet protion, and to get your body efficiently burning fat.

The beauty of HCG is that you can lose fat instead of muscle on a very restricted diet - 500 calories!  Normally your body would cannibalize the muscle, but the hormones help you keep the muscle and lose the fat.

I have another problem.  There is no bathroom scale in this house.  I know what I weighted on before loading.  I spoke to a few others who all said they gained 2 lbs during the loading phase.  I guess I will add to lbs.  I was 189 before, so today my weight should be 191.

Oh my mom just finished her first week and lost 10.5 lbs!  Way to go mom!

My first day in Phase 1 HCG Diet

Hi, my name is Corrina Wood.  I was fit and healthy  for most my life.  The last five years I have completely lost control of my weight.  I've used many diets and had very limited success.
Even when I experienced weight loss, I soon gained back all the pounds and more.   It is now Thanksgiving and today I am starting the HCG diet.  The genius in this, is that the HCG starts with what is called phase 1 or loading.  This is two days in which you take the HCG drops and load up with proteins, fats and calories.  This first phase prepares your body to burn fat and not muscle, while on the the restricted calories of the phase 2.  The second stage is were your calories are extremely limited.

I was going to start the diet last week.  When I learned about the loading days, I delayed the start of the diet to do the loading days on Thanksgiving.  My second loading day will be eating leftovers, then it's on to the weight loss.

This is a terrible picture taken of me on Thanksgiving day.  It demonstrates why I need to lose weight!  191 uugh!
